Shmidt.Art - Porsche - Porsche 912 1967 - 1960s

A premium automotive poster dedicated to the 1967 Porsche 912 — an elegant early Porsche that combined the timeless shape of the original 911 with the lightweight simplicity of an air-cooled flat-four engine. This artwork celebrates the 1967 Porsche 912 Coupé in a deep period-inspired green finish, combining its unmistakable early Porsche silhouette with a carefully structured technical presentation. The poster features a large three-quarter illustration accompanied by front, rear, side and top views, a detailed air-cooled engine study, a period-inspired cockpit illustration and clearly arranged mechanical specifications. Lightweight by Philosophy Introduced as a more accessible companion to the early 911, the Porsche 912 combined the new 911 body and chassis architecture with a refined version of Porsche’s proven four-cylinder boxer engine. The result was a lighter, beautifully balanced sports car that retained the visual character and precise engineering associated with Porsche while emphasizing simplicity and efficiency. The 1967 Porsche 912 By 1967, the 912 had established itself as an important part of Porsche’s model range. Its compact proportions, low weight, rear-mounted engine and characteristic fastback profile created a distinctly pure driving experience. With approximately 90 PS available from its 1.6-litre flat-four, outright power was modest, but the lightweight construction and responsive chassis gave the 912 its distinctive character. Air-Cooled Flat-Four Engine Mounted behind the rear axle is a 1,582 cc air-cooled horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine producing approximately 90 PS. Its compact boxer configuration, prominent cooling fan and straightforward mechanical architecture are presented in a detailed technical illustration at the bottom of the poster. For the 1967 912, Porsche lists 1,582 cc displacement and 90 PS / 66 kW, while period specifications place maximum speed at approximately 185 km/h. Porsche Finder Classic Rear-Engine Architecture The 912 retained Porsche’s characteristic rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration. With relatively little mass and a compact four-cylinder engine, the car offered a different balance from the contemporary six-cylinder 911 while preserving the fundamental Porsche sports-car layout. Timeless Early Porsche Design Round upright headlamps, slim chrome bumpers, a low bonnet, compact glasshouse and gently descending fastback roofline define one of the most recognizable silhouettes in automotive history. The deep green bodywork used in this artwork emphasizes the elegant simplicity of the early short-wheelbase Porsche design. The restrained exterior detailing is deliberately reproduced without the aggressive spoilers, widened bodywork and oversized wheels associated with later generations, preserving the clean proportions of the original 1960s automobile. A Driver-Focused Cockpit Inside, the 912 followed Porsche’s functional approach to sports-car design. A simple steering wheel, clear instrumentation, floor-mounted gear lever and compact dashboard placed the essential controls directly around the driver. The cockpit illustration included in the artwork highlights this purposeful period layout. Detailed Illustrated Composition The artwork includes: - Large three-quarter illustration of the 1967 Porsche 912 Coupé in deep green - Detailed front and rear technical views - Accurate side-profile illustration - Overhead technical view - Detailed 1.6-litre air-cooled flat-four engine study - Period-inspired driver’s cockpit illustration - Classic chrome bumper and trim details - Early Porsche steel-wheel design - Clearly arranged engine, power, drivetrain, transmission and top-speed specifications - Vintage technical typography and archival presentation The warm ivory background, deep green bodywork, fine black technical linework and subtle aged-paper character give the poster a sophisticated vintage engineering aesthetic. The composition keeps the large central Porsche as the visual focus while the surrounding drawings reveal the design and mechanical character of the 912. Specifications Model: Porsche 912 Coupé Year: 1967 Engine: 1,582 cc air-cooled flat-four Power: 90 PS / 66 kW Torque: approximately 122 Nm Drive: Rear-wheel drive Transmission: 5-speed manual Top speed: approximately 185 km/h Length: 4,163 mm Width: 1,610 mm Height: 1,320 mm Wheelbase: 2,211 mm Weight: approximately 970 kg For a 1967 European Coupé, those dimensions and the 970 kg DIN weight are consistent with the available period/model data; the 5-speed gearbox was one of the transmissions offered for the 1967 912. Porsche Finder The poster is an excellent decorative piece for a garage, workshop, office, studio, living room, showroom or classic-car collection. It is particularly suited to enthusiasts of Porsche, air-cooled sports cars, 1960s automotive design, classic German engineering and vintage motorsport culture.
