A premium A1-format (landscape) technical poster dedicated to the Lotus Turbo Esprit Type 82 (1981) — an iconic British mid-engined sports car combining dramatic wedge-shaped styling, lightweight engineering, turbocharged performance, and legendary Lotus handling. This artwork presents a highly detailed multi-view technical illustration, including front, rear, side, and top perspectives, complemented by precise dimensions and key specifications. A distinctive blend of 1980s supercar aesthetics, innovative engineering, and motorsport-inspired performance, captured in a clean, blueprint-inspired layout. Highlights The Turbocharged Esprit The Turbo Esprit marked a major evolution of the original Esprit concept, adding significantly greater performance while retaining the lightweight philosophy and sharp handling characteristics that defined Lotus sports cars. 2.2-Litre Turbocharged Engine Powered by the Lotus Type 910 2.2-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, the early Turbo Esprit produced approximately 210 bhp (213 PS), giving the lightweight sports car performance capable of challenging considerably larger-engined rivals. Impressive Performance With a top speed of approximately 150 mph (241 km/h) and 0–60 mph acceleration in around 5.5 seconds, the Turbo Esprit ranked among the fastest British production sports cars of its era. Mid-Engine Engineering Its longitudinally mounted mid-engine and rear-wheel-drive configuration provided excellent balance and responsive handling, while Lotus chassis tuning delivered the precise steering and cornering ability for which the marque became famous. Iconic Giugiaro Wedge Design Originally shaped by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Esprit’s dramatic wedge profile was enhanced on the Turbo with deeper aerodynamic bodywork, a prominent front spoiler, side skirts, rear aerodynamic elements, and wider wheels, creating one of the defining sports-car silhouettes of the 1980s. Lightweight Lotus Philosophy A steel backbone chassis combined with a lightweight fiberglass body helped keep mass relatively low, allowing Lotus to achieve exceptional performance without relying on a large-displacement engine. 1980s Automotive Icon With its pop-up headlights, extremely low profile, sharp geometric lines, and unmistakable stance, the Turbo Esprit became one of the most recognizable exotic sports cars of its generation. Collector Appeal Early Turbo Esprit models are increasingly appreciated for their distinctive styling, analog driving experience, turbocharged character, and important place in the evolution of Lotus road cars. Technical Precision Accurate dimensional layouts inspired by classic engineering schematics highlight the vehicle’s low-slung proportions, mid-mounted turbocharged engine, rear-wheel-drive architecture, and lightweight chassis construction.
