Ship's compass - Brass, Glass, Wood - onbekend - Dry compass in a case

A beautiful, authentic 19th-century ship compass with a Cardan rose compass (it swings with the sea motion to stay level). In a brass housing and Cardan ring, mounted in a wooden storage box with dovetail joints. Compass rose: Classic wind rose with an elegant Fleur-de-lis (French lily) indicating North. In good used/vintage condition with a natural patina on the brass and light signs of aging on the wood and the rose, giving it an authentic character. Beautiful as a decorative nautical collectible, for a desk, in a display cabinet, or for lovers of sailing and antique instruments! Diameter of the compass is 13.5 cm.
