Oil on board, 2004, signed and inscribed to verso. 48 x 48 in. Private Collection, North Carolina Bennett Street Gallery, Atlanta, Georgia Acquired from the above Sharon Booma is an American abstract artist who has exhibited her work since 1986. She graduated from the University of Connecticut and also studied at the College of New Rochelle in New York. Her complex, richly layered paintings have received top honors in juried exhibitions and have been featured in invitational exhibitions throughout the United States. Booma’s work explores the shifting balance between chaos and order, juxtaposing what she describes as “the tangible materials that surround us” with the less tangible spiritual qualities that define individual experience. Working in oil and mixed media on panel and paper, she combines broad fields of color, linear elements, textured surfaces, and deeply layered passages of paint. Through the careful orchestration of these seemingly disparate elements, Booma creates compositions in which spontaneity and structure coexist, achieving a dynamic sense of harmony and equilibrium. Good estate condition.
