All auctions / Asian Art / Set of four Imari Chinese soup plates. - Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
Exceptional and indivisible set of four deep porcelain plates (soup plates) of export-quality china for the European market (East India Company). They belong to the Qing Dynasty (18th century). They feature the classic Imari decoration with cobalt blue underglaze and rust red overglaze on the glaze. The central design shows an elegant asymmetrical arrangement of peonies and foliage, surrounded by a geometric border on the rim. Condition: Very good overall condition for their age. They show no hairlines, cracks, or chips at the edges. As is customary and a guarantee of their original manual manufacture, the reverses display the classic unglazed foot ring with slight firing irregularities and a tiny glaze skip on one base. The front glaze is very bright and well preserved. Dimensions (cm): Diameter: 23 cm Height: 4.5 cm Weight (grams): Approx. 2000 g (weight of the lot unboxed) Shipping method: International certified, insured shipping with tracking number. They will be professionally packed using high-protection materials and double-wall cardboard boxes to ensure the lot arrives in perfect condition.
