Sessue Hayakawa (1889-1973)

Sessue Hayakawa (1889-1973)

Sessue Hayakawa (1889-1973), Japanese actor, film producer, director, legendary star of The Bridge on the River Kwai. Original signed photograph, approx. 1925, 238×179 mm. Beautiful dedication to Olga Horstig-Primus (1912-2004), talent agent and photographer: « Miss Olga Horstig / sincerely yours / Sessue Hayakawa ». Beautiful photograph by Teddy Piaz, Parisian photographer, taken undoubtedly between 1922 and 1931, when he was in Europe. The dedication is before 1945 as it still mentions “mademoiselle” Olga Horstig who was married in 1945 (we have not found the marriage date). Very beautiful photograph, very well preserved. [The first photograph presented in a frame is used as an illustration for the Catawiki listing — the photo is not sold framed] #japanweek
