Seriatopora Hystrix Coral Specimen - Coral from Solomon...

Pocilloporidae, Solomon Islands — This specimen of coral Seriatopora hystrix, also known as the “brush” coral for its distinctive morphology, presents itself in a magnificent pure white coloration, which enhances its complex natural architecture. The colony is made up of countless thin, pointed branches that branch densely from a central base, creating a globular and compact shape that draws attention with its intricate beauty and delicate texture. Each individual calcareous polyp has contributed to the formation of this branching structure, bearing witness to the slow and meticulous work of nature. The surface of the branches is finely detailed, revealing the minute features that make this type of coral so distinctive. The uniform and pure coloration gives the specimen an elegant and timeless appearance, making it an ideal piece for any collection or as a premium decorative element. The Seriatopora hystrix coral is a hard coral (scleractinian) that thrives in the warm and clear waters of coral reefs, where it plays a crucial role in the marine ecosystem. Its growth is typically branched, forming dense bushes that provide refuge for numerous marine species. Its provenance from the Solomon Islands adds a touch of exoticism and charm to this extraordinary natural artifact. The specimen is firmly mounted on a combined wood and brass base, designed to enhance its presentation and ensure stability. The dark wooden base elegantly contrasts with the white of the coral, while the brass support adds a touch of refinement, elevating the piece into a true natural sculpture. An element of great visual and scientific impact, perfect for enriching a refined setting or a natural history collection.
