Offered in this auction by Second Vintage A beautifully preserved example of Seiko's Lord Matic line, this timepiece immediately draws the eye with its striking vertical gradient dial in grey-brown tones. The watch features a sharp, angular case design typical of 1970s Seiko, beautifully complemented by a distinctive faceted crystal that adds remarkable depth and visual interest to the dial. Brand: Seiko Model: Lord Matic Reference Number: 5606-8110 Serial Number: 593100 Movement: Automatic caliber 5606A Dial: Vertical gradient grey-brown Case Size: 36 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1975 Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Timegrapher: +45+50s/day, running in operational condition. Dial and Hands The dial is exceptionally clean and visually striking, characterized by a distinctive vertical gradient stripe pattern executed in rich grey-brown tones. Applied faceted indices and the classic logos remain entirely clean, catching the light beautifully beneath the crystal. All printed text is crisp and fully intact, and there is no visible moisture damage or significant spotting across the surface. The watch is fitted with elegant baton style hands that perfectly match the dial furniture. These hands are remarkably well-preserved, showing clean surfaces with no obvious oxidation or corrosion. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case features an angular design defined by prominent faceted lugs. It displays honest wear consistent with its age, retaining its original geometry while showing light surface scratches and minor handling wear visible on the polished flanks. The case edges remain reasonably defined, preserving the character of the 1970s architecture. The watch is fitted with an unsigned knurled crown. A major highlight is the faceted crystal, which is clear and presents no significant scratches or chips, allowing an unimpeded view of the dial while creating dynamic reflections. Movement Inside is the Seiko automatic caliber 5606A, featuring a rotor signed with the Seiko name and jewel count. The movement displays some minor surface spotting and light wear visible on the rotor and plates, though there is no severe corrosion or damage present. On the timegrapher, the watch measures +45+50s/day. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch. Strap The watch is paired with a black textured leather strap featuring contrasting orange stitching. It appears lightly used and serves to highlight the warm grey-brown tones of the dial. Condition Excellent vintage condition. The dial is outstandingly clean, free of moisture damage or significant spotting, while the hands remain bright and well-preserved. The stainless steel case shows honest age-related wear, including light surface scratches on the polished sections, but retains good definition across its faceted lugs. The faceted crystal is clear and free of notable chips. The automatic movement is running in operational condition, supported by the recorded timegrapher data. Dimensions The case measures 36 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Lord Matic stands out through its highly attractive vertical gradient dial and the visual depth provided by its faceted crystal. The combination of classic 1970s angular case geometry and a clean, dynamic dial makes this an incredibly appealing vintage Seiko. History The Seiko Lord Matic line was introduced in 1968 as a high-quality mid-range offering.
