Donatello's David is a bronze statue from around 1440, created by the Italian Renaissance sculptor Donatello. It was the first freestanding male nude since antiquity and caused a sensation when it was unveiled. The statue depicts the Biblical King David with his foot on the head of the freshly beheaded giant Goliath. The androgynous, almost feminine young man with a mysterious smile is completely naked, except for his boots and a hat adorned with a laurel wreath, a symbol of victory. In his hand he holds Goliath's sword. The bronze David by Donatello is one of the most groundbreaking creations in the history of sculpture, a work that forever changed the perception of beauty, youth and heroism wonderfully beautiful, highly detailed bronze statue for home or garden has a two-tone marble base beautiful classical statue for any enthusiast
