icolaes Berchem (1620-1683) – Charcoal drawing on paper, depicting a rural landscape lively with several figures engaged in forest work, accompanied by animals. The composition is distinguished by the finesse of its execution, the richness of its vegetation and the careful treatment of the figures. The work bears a signature “Berghem” at the bottom right. Nicolaes Berchem (1620-1683) is a Dutch painter, draughtsman and etcher of the Golden Age, particularly recognized for his Italianate landscapes and pastoral scenes. His work is characterized by elaborate compositions, combining landscapes, animals and figures in natural settings. Dimensions: 52 × 37.5 cm. Era: 17th century. Condition: the drawing shows a vertical crease down the middle of the paper, as well as some signs of aging, visible in photographs. And a very small tear. An old watermark is also visible through the paper. A small handwritten inscription, unfortunately difficult to read, appears on the reverse side of the drawing. The work is presented in its mat. Careful packaging and protection.
