Sarkis Diranian (1860-1918) - A Quaint Old Lady

Sarkis Diranian (1860-1918) - A Quaint Old Lady

- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Hand-signed and dated in the lower right corner. - Sarkis Diranian (1854–1918) was a prominent Armenian Orientalist painter born in Constantinople (modern Istanbul), whose artistic career flourished after his move to Paris in 1883. Initially trained at the Dibujo (Drawing) School of his hometown and solidified artistically at the Paris École des Beaux-Arts under the tutelage of Jean-Léon Gérôme, Diranian managed to fuse rigorous European academic technique with a lyrical fascination for the aesthetics of the Middle East. His works—especially his famous female portraits, Ottoman genre scenes, and coastal landscapes—stand out for the refined handling of light, meticulous treatment of textures in fabrics, and a vibrant yet harmonious color palette. Although he remained based in the French capital until his death, regularly exhibiting at the prestigious Paris Salons and earning international recognition, his legacy holds fundamental historical value by bridging the painting tradition of the Armenian diaspora with 19th-century French academicism. - Framed image dimensions: 54 x 65 cm / 60 x 71 cm with exclusive custom frame. At Montbaron Gallery, we are pleased to offer our clients an exclusive selection of artworks, all of them unique, original, and unrepeatable. Each piece in our gallery results from deep dedication, a creative vision, and masterful technique—qualities that guarantee its authenticity. The works we sell are not industrial reproductions; they are pieces created individually by recognized artists, each with its own story and essence. Originality is the cornerstone of our commitment to excellence, and therefore every painting or sculpture that forms part of our collection is carefully selected to ensure its singularity. Acquiring a work from Montbaron Gallery means owning a unique piece, an investment in creativity and talent that, over time, will retain both artistic and emotional value. We are proud to offer works that not only beautify spaces but also connect our clients with the richness of human expression through the most authentic art. Thus we guarantee that every work leaving our gallery is a unique piece in the world, with no replicas, and a testament to the innovation and passion of the artists we work with. Certain lots, due to their age and value, require an export permit issued by the Ministry of Culture. Although it is an administrative procedure, it is indispensable to ensure the authenticity of the work and its free international circulation. Montbaron Gallery commits to offering its clients original, unique, and unrepeatable works of art, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of each piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in every purchase, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. This certificate confirms that the acquired work has been authenticated by our specialists, who verify its authorship, origin, and condition. The Certificate of Guarantee includes complete details about the piece, such as the author, creation date, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued upon the client’s request, providing an official reference for the purchased piece. This document will be sent in digital format and will be signed by an art historian from our gallery, ensuring its validity and backing. We are committed to the satisfaction and confidence of our clients, so any questions about the authenticity or condition of the work will be addressed professionally and diligently. To request your Certificate of Guarantee, please contact us through our usual channels. As experts in art logistics, at Montbaron Gallery we are dedicated to ensuring that each piece reaches its destination safely and in the best possible condition. To this end, we work with a network of professionals specialized in art transport, who guarantee the utmost care throughout the process. It is important to note that the shipping cost prices shown in the listing are indicative and subject to change depending on various circumstances, including fluctuations in transport market rates, changes in delivery location, the size and weight of the work, and possible extraordinary circumstances such as fuel cost fluctuations or adjustments to customs and import tariffs. The final shipping cost will be calculated precisely based on these factors and will always be communicated to the client prior to shipping. Our goal is to offer the best possible service, tailoring to each client’s needs and ensuring the work arrives at its destination quickly and safely, with no surprises. The frame shown in the previous images has been added to the piece by a third party or by the seller, and is not an integral part of the object. This frame is provided at no additional cost so that, when the work arrives at the buyer’s home, it may be displayed immediately on the wall. Accordingly, damages to the frame that do not affect the integrity of the work will not be accepted as valid grounds for filing a claim or requesting a cancellation. We invite you to bid with confidence on pieces from our gallery. Each work we offer is original, unique, and unrepeatable, selected with the utmost care and authenticity. Whether you are seeking a piece to enrich your personal collection or to add exceptional value to your space, Montbaron Gallery offers a secure and transparent platform for you to bid easily and professionally. It is also noted that the indicated dimensions may show slight physical variations inherent to the framing process or to the original support. For rigorous consultation, collectors are asked to refer exclusively to the detailed technical sheet that accompanies each work, where all technical information, certified measurements, and conservation status are specified.
