Spring Story is a famous suite of 10 color aquatints created in 1999 by the Italian master Sandro Chia, one of the leading exponents of Transavantgarde. Technique: Etching, original color aquatint Dimensions: About 48 x 48 cm Support: Etna paper 400 g Printer: Edizioni Tiperti Edition: 100 copies in Arabic numerals, plus Roman numerals and artist proofs, hand-signed by the artist on the front. The style of these prints reflects the expressive and chromatic language typical of Chia, in which vigorous forms and vivid colors dialog with figurative tradition. Chia's work stands out for a strong return to figurative painting and drawing, in sharp contrast to the conceptual art of the 1970s. Subjects: imposing, monumental, and often enigmatic human figures, immersed in vibrant landscapes. Colors: rich, bright, thick colors laid down with an energetic and dynamic brushstroke. Influences: A continual dialogue with art history, reinterpreting masters of the past such as Carrà, De Chirico, Picasso, and the tradition of the Tuscan Renaissance.
