All auctions / Books, Maps & Manuscripts / Salvador Dalí & J. Peter Moore - Les dîners de Gala - 1973
Superb illustrated edition of this extravagant culinary book that embodies the surreal universe of the artist by transposing his pictorial imagination into the table setting - Designed as a gastronomic manifest, the work gathers twelve thematic chapters inspired by pomp and excess, where recipes and illustrations mingle in a baroque celebration of sensuality and pleasure - Dali distorts the tradition of cookbooks by introducing bold visual compositions, stylized photographs, and texts imbued with humor and provocation, turning each dish into a work of art - This book, rare and sought-after, testifies to Dalinian obsession with excess, opulence, and the fusion of the arts, and remains an essential reference for lovers of surrealism and bibliophilia - Salvador Dalí & J.
