Sadleir (Michael)/M.T.H.S. [Sadler (Michael Thomas Harvey)], Lappalien, association copy: inscribed by the author and from the library of his father, sole edition, one of 100 copies, 'nearly all later destroyed by author' (The New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature: Volume 4, 1900-1950), s.l., s.n., n.d., [Weybridge: Printed by Cocks, December 1907], title-page inscribed by the author, almost certainly contemporary to publication, with bibliographic details in manuscript: Dec. 1907/printed at Weybridge, 27pp, original wrappers, 12mo Provenance: 1) Almost certainly presented by Sadleir to his father, Sir Michael Ernest Sadler KCSI CB (1861-1943), academic historian, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds (1911-23) and later Master of University College, Oxford (1923-34); Michael Ernest Sadler's University College printed calligraphic book and case labels to pastedown. 2) Presumably presented again by Sadleir, following his father's death and the dispersal of his library, to Bruce Marshall (1899-1987), Scottish author and traditionalist Roman Catholic. The first printed book by Michael Sadleir (1888-1957), man of letters, noted bibliophile, bibliographer, and Roxburghe Club member. Following the author's contemporary self-destruction of copies, now a rare anthology of autograph verse and translations with only four institutional copies traced.
