This item is a Murano glass vase, characterized by a complex artisanal workmanship typical of the mid-20th century. Main Features Morise Glass: The “wings” or transparent glass shards applied to the sides are called morise, a hot decorative technique. Avventurina: The small shimmering threads of 24k gold scattered in the blue are due to the inclusion of 24k gold crystals, known as aventurine work. Murrine and Lattimo: The circular decorations are flower murrine, often surrounded by a halo of opaque white glass (lattimo). Avventurina Glass: The gold threads visible in the glass are obtained with the aventurine technique, which involves inserting 24k gold crystals into the molten glass. Floral Decorations: The white flowers are probably made using the murrine technique or lampworking glass, typical of the Murano tradition. Pontello Mark: The irregular and rough circle visible at the center of the base is the “pontil mark.” It indicates the object was hand-blown and detached from the blowing rod once finished. Pieces with this combination of blue, gold and flowers are often attributed to historic Murano glassworks. It is shipped with appropriate packaging and insured shipping.
