Rudyard Kipling, "Kim" First Edition, 1901 Rudyard Kipling (English, 1865-1936). "Kim". London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1901. First edition, 8vo. Bound by Bayntun Bindery in full crimson polished Morocco, with a ribbed spine, gilt elephant motifs and dentelles, and contrasting multi-color leather title and author labels, hand-marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. McFadden bookplate to the front pastedown, with the same owner’s name inked on the front free endpaper and “First Edition” penciled beneath the Bayntun stamp. Original cloth covers and spine have been affixed to the rear free endpapers. First free paper is stamped Bayntun Binder, Bath, Eng. Approximate dimensions: 7 7/8 x 5 3/8 x 1 1/2 in.
