RU (Rudolph Alexander) Israëls (1912–1990) – Large abstract mixed-media composition Special and large abstract work by Rudolph Alexander “Ru” Israëls (1912–1990). The work is executed in mixed media and built up from several layers, structures and geometric and organic forms. The composition is dominated by deep red and brown tones, ochre yellow and striking emerald green/turquoise accents. Especially the round emerald green element top right and the elongated turquoise shapes create a strong contrast. Due to the different structures, transparent layers and worked surfaces the appearance changes depending on the light incidence. The composition has a pronounced postwar modernist / mid-century character and is interesting up close because of the techniques used, and from afar very decorative. The work is clearly signed “Ru Israels” bottom right. Artist: Rudolph Alexander “RU” Israëls (1912–1990) Technique: Mixed media Period: 1950-1970 Signature: signed bottom right: “Ru Israels” Dimensions including frame: approx. 101 × 91 cm The work is in a gold-colored frame with a green/turquoise inner edge. This color scheme suits the emerald green accents in the painting particularly well and forms one whole with the composition. Given the age, the work and frame may show light signs of aging and usage. Due to the generous size the work has a strong presence on the wall and comes into its own very well in both a modern and a classical interior. Works by RU Israëls appear, as far as publicly traceable, only sporadically on the public auction market. This offers a special opportunity to acquire a large, signed and characterful mixed-media work by this artist. The painting is packed with great care and professionalism for shipping.
