Royal Head of Ifé - Ancient bronze - Yoruba - Nigeria

Royal head Nigeria Culture Yoruba, Kingdom of Ifé Height 27 cm Bronze Circa 1950 Magnificent bronze head representing a king of the Kingdom of Ifé. The Kingdom of Ifé was one of the great kingdoms in southern Nigeria established by the Yoruba people. The workmanship is exceptional; the artist who created this piece was at the height of his art. The face is strong, bearing a dignified and determined expression. The gaze is piercing and intimidating. It imposes its presence. Beautiful old patina. Some flaws visible in the photos. Sold as is. This ancient bronze is a work of high quality, made with the lost-wax technique (see Google) which makes this work unique. Without thermoluminescence testing, the attribution is given as indicative, based on our knowledge. Circa 1950.
