Rosebud, Texas. $10 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1801-1. Planters NB. Charter #8066. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20. Representative of a town in Falls County whose name was later shared by the infamous McGuffin from Citizen Kane directed by Orson Welles. Rosebud (at least the town in Texas) is nonetheless a rare community for National Bank Notes that was served by two different banks between 1900 and 1935. The earliest of these institutions to organize was the First National Bank (Charter# 5513) which records 20 non-institutional survivors in the National Bank Note Census. By contrast, the Planters National Bank (Charter# 8066) records only six surviving non-institutional notes in the census, but these pieces are the only way a collector could hope to represent this charter in their collection making this an opportunity where our estimate may be little more than an academic suggestion. Estimate: $1,250 - $1,750. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
