Impressive figurative sculpture in white-bodied ceramic, slip-cast and hand-finished under a glass display case. It is a work of striking scenographic impact created by the renowned Turin manufactory Ronzan between the late 1930s and the 1940s, characterized by substantial dimensions with a height of 41 cm, a width of 15 cm, and a depth of 10 cm. The sculpture depicts a sinuous Oriental dancer or odalisque, captured in a dynamic and sensual pose with a pronounced Art Deco influence. The figure, characterized by an extremely slender and elegant anatomical rendering, shows a nude bust and wears an elaborate headdress in Siamese and Khmer style in ochre, gold, and brown tones with raised-relief decorations. The lower part of the body is enveloped by a wide draped skirt, richly adorned with floral motifs in pink and green tones, enhanced by a refined hand-painted crackle-like lattice on the fabric. The jewels applied to the wrists, ankles, and the ornamental belt echo the taste for exoticism and Orientalism typical of the decorative arts of the early 20th century. The face of the figure stands out for finely stylized features, with half-closed green-painted eyes, clearly defined red lips, and an ageless expression that constitutes an unmistakable stylistic signature of the Turin ceramic sculpture school. The authenticity and authorship of the work are fully guaranteed by origin marks under the base, where the hand-painted signature under the display case reads "Ronzan - Torino" and the typical graphic symbol of the small flower with a stem, a distinctive mark of the furnace for period production. From a conservation standpoint, the work is in excellent condition, perfectly intact in structure and coloration, preserving the original display’s brilliance without chips, crazing, cracks, or restoration and repainting interventions.
