Roman empire. 500 to 700 CE. Interesting pair of ancient objects! First, a cast bronze Priapus. Priapus was a minor Greek fertility god and protector of male genitalia. He is shown wearing a long cloak parted at the middle to expose his huge erect phallus. Along with a very rare "dark ages" chatelaine - bronze implement hung of a belt usually holding tools or adornments - in this case a pair of triangular danglers. Item # 201989
