Rockingham Glazed Ceramic Medici Lion Figurine

Large ceramic lion figurine modeled in a standing pose atop a rectangular plinth with a sphere under the front right paw. The earthenware body is finished in a mottled brown and amber Rockingham glaze with a textured mane and a tail curved upward along the flank. The thick, stepped rectangular base is integral to the piece. The underside of the hollow base is glazed and shows a dark, rectangular patch of glaze in the center, though no legible characters, symbols, or factory marks are visible.
