Ring - 18 kt. White gold - Diamond - Emerald ca. 1920 Art Deco

Type of jewel: Antique emerald and diamond ring. Condition: In well-preserved condition, especially given this ring’s age. Style: Art Deco, with a geometric openwork head, triangular emerald corners and fine millegrain edging framing the green centre and diamond-set panels. Era: Circa 1920. Material: 18K white gold, touchstone tested. Diamonds: Eight rose-cut diamonds. Rose-cut diamonds are traditionally described by number rather than by estimated weight, colour or clarity grades. Their varying and often irregular depth prevents reliable weight estimation while mounted, while formal colour and clarity grading is not customary in the trade for diamonds of this antique cutting style. All diamonds in this ring were individually tested with the Magilabs' EXA Natural Diamond Detector and identified as natural diamonds. Gemstones: Two baguette-cut emeralds at the centre, with an estimated combined weight of approximately 0.38 ct, and four triangular-cut emeralds at the corners, with an estimated combined weight of approximately 0.12 ct. Gemstone weights are approximate, as the stones were assessed in their settings and were not removed for weighing. It is common practice for gemstones to be treated in order to improve their colour or clarity. The emeralds have not been tested for such treatments. Traditional gemstone associations: Emerald is traditionally associated with May, and diamond with April. Hallmarks: No trace of hallmarks. Dimensions: Ring head approximately 17.5 × 16 mm.
