The composition presents, in an expressive mid-range plane, the absorbed and introspective gaze of a woman immersed in the water, through whose face thin rivulets of sunlight refract from the surface, while small marine creatures swim in fluid interaction with her hair and surroundings. With careful brushwork in anatomical details and a hazy technique to recreate the distortion of the water, the artist expresses a deep spiritual connection between the human being and the marine world, evoking feelings of contemplative calm, rebirth, and the abysmal mystery of human nature fused with the underwater realm.
