Rewel - Tank - No reserve price - 43653 - Men - 1970-1979

Vintage mechanical wind-up Rewel watch, an interesting Swiss watch from roughly the Seventies, characterized by a wide geometrical case, dark blue dial and a 17-jewel mechanical movement. The piece represents the style of Swiss watchmaking of the period, when tonneau- and cushion-shaped cases, with broad surfaces and bold lines, became protagonists of sporty and elegant design. The case measures 35.5 × 41 mm and features a geometrical form with a widened profile and predominantly satin-like surfaces. The chrome finish shows evident signs of wear, with scratches, abrasions, and superficial loss of coating, especially along the edges. The dark blue dial features applied hour markers, a slightly glossy finish and contrasting central hands. At 3 o'clock there is the date window with a silver frame. The graphics bear the Rewel brand, the inscription 17 Rubis and the Incabloc indication. The movement is a Swiss manual-wind mechanical caliber, visible through the open case back in the photographs. It presents a traditional construction with metal bridges, winding wheels and a balance with mechanical regulation. The 17 jewels indication refers to the synthetic stone bearings used at the movement’s points of friction. The Incabloc system is designed to protect the delicate balance pinions from accidental shocks, contributing to the overall robustness. The specific caliber has not been identified with certainty. The movement shows signs of aging and chromatic alterations on some metal surfaces, consistent with the watch’s age. The stainless steel case back bears the inscriptions Swiss Made, Waterproof, Shock Resistant and Antimagnetic, as well as the number 43653. The watch is accompanied by a blue strap with crocodile-effect embossing and by a vintage Rewel De Luxe Swiss Made case, with a green outer cover and a light fabric-lined interior. General conditions are vintage. There are scratches on the crystal, wear marks on the case and signs of aging on the dial. The photographs document the watch’s aesthetic condition. No documentation of recent servicing is available. The accuracy of timekeeping and the power reserve have not been certified. Water resistance has not been tested or guaranteed, despite the historical indications on the case back. An interesting watch for enthusiasts of vintage Swiss mechanicals, 1970s design and timepieces from lesser-known historic brands, enhanced by the presence of the era-appropriate Rewel box.
