Chinese porcelain cylindrical vase (brushpot form), Republic period. Artist: Liu Yucen (刘雨岑, 1904–1969), one of the Eight Friends of Zhushan (珠山八友). Date: Ding Mao year, corresponding to 1927. Place of production: Painted at Zhushan, Jingdezhen. The vase is finely decorated in famille rose (fencai) enamels with a continuous design of flowering plants, vines, blue foliage, grape-like clusters and hanging bead/ornament motifs. The upper rim is finished with a gilt band. Clear black enamel inscription including the cyclical date “丁卯”, “於珠山” and the signature of Liu Yucen. Base with iron-red square seal mark and later handwritten inventory numbers on the unglazed foot. Dimensions: Height 28 cm Diameter 12 cm Good overall condition with normal age-related wear. The unglazed foot shows expected dirt and abrasion. Minor surface dirt and small black spots visible near the base. No cracks, chips or restoration detected. Gilding and enamels remain in stable condition. Provenance: Private collection, Belgium. The supplier warrants that they obtained this object in a legal manner.
