The edition is completed by an artistic contribution from Maestro Paolo Baratella, placed on the volume’s plate, and by ninety color images out of text lithographed by Mirco Cestari in Bologna and printed at Andrea Albertini’s printing works, also in Bologna, on 170-gram matte-coated paper produced by Cartiere del Garda of Riva del Garda. The printing of the texts, set in Bodoni round and italic types in sizes 34, 22 and 16, was executed in Bologna at Andrea Albertini’s workshop on vellum-like pure cotton paper of 170 grams, specially prepared for this edition, handmade on a round-form loom with a special exclusive formula by Cartiere Magnani in Pescia. The volume is part of the “Sacra” collection and was produced in an exclusive limited edition of 999 numbered copies. The Work was published on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Apparition of Mary, Lourdes Jubilee 2008. The author of the texts is René Laurentin, one of the world’s leading Mariology experts, co-author of Marian Doctrine in the dogmatic Constitution of the Second Vatican Council, author of over one hundred publications on Mary and Marian apparitions, and he traces the fundamental history of the figure of Mary in world literature and art of all times, proposing narrative texts by various authors, from Saint Augustine to Saint Thomas Aquinas and Dante, up to Paul Claudel, Carl Gustav Jung, John Paul II, etc.
