Relic Fabric of St. Francis of Assisi, with a Wax Seal and Silk Threads, shipping will be free Francesco d'Assisi, born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone (Assisi, 1181/1182 – Assisi, October 3, 1226), was an Italian religious figure, mystic and poet. Founder of the Franciscan Order, he was proclaimed a saint by Pope Gregory IX in 1228. Inspired to lead a Christian life of poverty, he became a mendicant and an itinerant preacher. He is commonly depicted with a brown robe and a rope tied at the waist, with three knots symbolizing the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The reliquary does not contain human remains. This object is offered exclusively for its historical, cultural, or decorative value. No religious significance is claimed, implied, or upheld.
