REGNARD (Jean-François). The Works. Paris, Pierre Ribou, 1707–1708—*Le Légataire universel*. Comedy. Paris, Ribou, 1708—*La critique du légataire*. Comedy. Paris, Ribou, 1708. Set of three works in two 12mo volumes, blue morocco, double border of gilt fillets with a large central motif and corner fleurons featuring small dotted ironwork in the 17th-century style, ribbed spine decorated in the same manner, wide inner return adorned with gilt fillets and scrolls, gilt edges (Cuzin). Collected first edition of Regnard’s plays. It contains: Volume I: *La Sérénade*; *Le Bal*; *Le Joueur*; *Le Distrait*; *Le Retour imprévu*; *Attendez-moi sous l’Orme*. Volume II: *Démocrite*; *Les Folies amoureuses*; *Les Menechmes*. An engraved frontispiece at the beginning of Volume I and nine unsigned illustrations, one of which (that of *Démocrite*) serves as the frontispiece for Volume II. As is customary, this copy is accompanied by the first editions of *Le Légataire universel*—one of the author’s masterpieces—and *La Critique du légataire*, works published simultaneously with the *Œuvres* by the same publisher, the former illustrated with a frontispiece and a vignette signed “Le Fèvre” on the title page. A very fine copy, with generous margins, finely bound by Cuzin.
