Magnificent natural rough tsavorite of 2.45 carats, from Tanzania, displaying a superb intense green color and a particularly expressive crystalline architecture. Fully preserved in its rough state, this piece reveals a remarkable succession of translucent zones, growth ridges, and naturally shiny surfaces that catch the light with great intensity. Tsavorite ranks among the most prestigious varieties in the garnet family. This piece makes a very beautiful collection specimen, combining iconic African origin, sustained color, and preserved natural character. Technical characteristics - Stone: Tsavorite – green grossular garnet - Weight: 2.45 carats - Dimensions: 8 × 8 × 4 mm - Origin: Tanzania - Color: Intense green - State: Natural rough - Naturalness: 100% natural - Treatment: No treatment - Quality: Premium selection - Destination: Collection, gemology, mineralogy An intense and deeply luminous green The visual quality of this specimen rests primarily on its very beautiful green, with a particularly attractive saturation in several areas of the crystal. Under light, the rough structure produces a multitude of reflections: the most transparent parts reveal a bright and luminous green, while deeper sectors develop much more intense tones. This alternation gives the specimen real depth and allows new details to be discovered with each change of angle. The numerous surface structures are also direct evidence of its natural growth. They give this tsavorite a particularly interesting mineralogical aesthetic, very different from that of a faceted stone. Tsavorite, an exceptional garnet Tsavorite is a green variety of grossular garnet, whose coloration is mainly linked to vanadium and chromium. One of its great charms lies in the fact that its magnificent color is natural. Unlike many other gems on the market, tsavorite is traditionally not heated to develop its green: the colors that made its reputation come directly from the extraordinary conditions in which the crystal formed. The finest tsavorites thus combine color, brilliance, geological rarity, and the usual absence of treatment, which explains their special status among connoisseurs. A legendary discovery The modern history of tsavorite begins in the 1960s when geologist and prospector Campbell Bridges discovers remarkable green grossular garnets in East Africa. After the initial discoveries in Tanzania, other deposits were identified in Kenya. The gem would later be named “tsavorite,” after the Tsavo region. This story is remarkable: in just a few decades, a gem virtually unknown to the general public became one of the most prestigious and sought-after garnets on the international market. A gem whose rarity is geological Tsavorite requires extremely particular formation conditions. Its deposits are geographically very limited and essentially associated with certain geological formations in East Africa. Mining is difficult, production is irregular, and crystals may have undergone significant tectonic stress throughout their history. Specimens displaying beautiful green color, transparency, volume, and natural aesthetics therefore represent a limited selection of the extracted material. It is precisely this combination of a restricted geographic area and very specific formation conditions that gives tsavorite its exclusive character. A true collector’s piece With 2.45 carats and balanced dimensions of 8 × 8 × 4 mm, this specimen has a remarkable presence for observation and collection. Its rough state allows appreciating the stone as nature created it: irregular reliefs, crystalline zones, transparencies, and saturation variations are preserved and directly contribute to its identity. This piece will be particularly suitable for a collector of African gems, rare garnets, Tanzanian minerals, or natural precious stones seeking a specimen whose interest lies as much in color as in geological history. A very beautiful Tanzanian tsavorite of 2.45 carats, 100% natural, characterized by its intense green, its luminosity, and its remarkable rough architecture: a choice piece to enrich a demanding collection.
