RARE SHINY BLACK MAGNETITE

From our selection of collectible minerals we propose a rare group of Magnetite crystals from Traversella, Piedmont. In addition, it is characterized by glossy black crystals with well-developed octahedral habit, arranged in a group on a light matrix with evident greenish patinas providing a chromatic contrast, elements that increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Magnetite derives its name from its pronounced magnetic property, linked to the presence of iron in two different oxidation states (Fe2+ and Fe3+) within its inverse spinel structure. The Traversella mine, in Piedmont, is a historic skarn-type deposit exploited since the 19th century for iron and known among collectors for its rich mineral association, which includes scheelite, andradite, and axinite. The magnetite crystals here, often well-formed in octahedral habit, grow in contact with minerals typical of contact metamorphism, such as chlorite, which gives the matrix its characteristic greenish hue. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also within the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always indicated in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight tonal variations may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
