Ca. AD 1 - 100. A marble bust of Venus with her head turned slightly to her right, an elongated neck and softly modelled facial features. Her oval face has almond-shaped eyes beneath gently arched brows, a straight nose and full, slightly parted lips. The luxuriant wavy hair is parted centrally, swept back from the forehead in deeply carved undulating locks and gathered into an elaborate chignon at the nape of the neck. The upper part of the hair is arranged in parallel strands extending towards the back of the head. A mantle is draped across the shoulders and chest, secured by circular brooches at the shoulders and falling in broad, overlapping folds. Mounted on a later marble socle.
