A beautiful and uncommon specimen of Isoxys paradoxus, an extraordinary early arthropod from the renowned Chengjiang Biota of China. This attractive fossil measures 4.5 cm in length and is preserved on a natural matrix measuring 8 × 4.6 cm. The specimen displays a remarkably clear outline of its characteristic bivalved carapace, together with the distinctive elongated spines that make Isoxys one of the most recognizable arthropods of the Cambrian Explosion. The warm brown coloration of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the lighter surrounding sediment, creating an exceptionally attractive natural presentation. An Extraordinary Cambrian Arthropod Isoxys was an early marine arthropod that lived approximately 518 million years ago, during one of the most important evolutionary periods in Earth's history. Unlike the more familiar trilobites, these unusual animals possessed a delicate bivalved carapace with prominent anterior and posterior spines. Fossils from the Chengjiang Biota are internationally celebrated for their exceptional preservation and their scientific importance in understanding the emergence of complex animal life. An impressive and highly collectible Cambrian arthropod, combining distinctive morphology, attractive preservation, and remarkable geological age. A fascinating addition to any collection of early arthropods or exceptional Cambrian fossils. Scientific name: Isoxys paradoxus Age: Early Cambrian, approximately 518 million years Origin: Chengjiang Biota, Yunnan Province, China Fossil length: 4.5 cm Matrix dimensions: 8 × 4.6 cm
