RARE AND MONUMENTAL bracelet-money (manilla) with a statospheric weight of 3.8 kg. A detailed description will be provided later, but for now I am presenting an overview of all 24 listings of objects whose provenance remains exceptional, a scientific and primal art treasure. Discover among my 24 listings a unique historic ensemble, remained intact and preserved within my family for more than 70 years, because a former member of my family worked at the prestigious Bureau of Geological and Mining Research (BRGM) during the 1950s. These pieces are part of a spectacular field collection. The collection is documented by its wooden transport case with colonial inscriptions BRGM Natitingou-Dahomey, the former name of today’s Benin, and it is also documented by an exceptional set of 26 geological maps with explanatory notes dating from surveys conducted between 1935 and 1961. You will find among my 24 sales an exceptional King Manilla weighing over 3.8 kg. Each lot (24 in total) is a fragment of this historic geological expedition. this spectacular King Manilla resembles an original piece from Burkina Faso or Ghana, Gurunsi/Mossi ethnicity. Given its extraordinary weight, this bracelet served as a family treasure, a dowry of prestige, or exchange currency for large transactions. remarkable engraving work on the different faces with complex motifs: friezes, stylized triangles, interlocked rectangles, a series of circles, etc. magnificent condition for the period, in its original patina.
