Ram, Plateelbakkerij - Wall plate - Delfts polychroom met...

Ram, Delft pottery - Wall plate - Delft polychrome with flowers • well marked • from Arnhem • approx. 1927–1935 - Earthenware Wall plate from Plateelbakkerij Ram in Arnhem, painted in Delft polychrome with a hare rosette and floral scrolls. Cobalt blue, burgundy, mustard yellow and olive green stand against cream-white glaze; at the rim, latticework and cobalt-blue–yellow bands alternate. The flowers are built up with brushstrokes, with light and dark cobalt tones. Against a light wall the plate presents one closed field of color. For this object a Buy It Now price has also been set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting. Description: A round plate with a wide rim. In the center is a hare rosette in terracotta and cobalt blue, enclosed by a cobalt blue ring. Around it run four flower scrolls with cobalt blue and burgundy flowers, mustard-yellow buds and olive-green leaves. The rim bears latticework with dots, cobalt-blue-yellow bands with a curl and yellow flowers. The underside is glazed and bears the painted mark. About the maker: Plateelbakkerij Ram began in 1921 in Arnhem with executing the designs of Theo Colenbrander (1841–1930). Besides those abstract decors the factory made wall plates with animals after Roelof Sterken; painters such as Adriaan Kool and Willem Elstrodt are named. Production by Ram is documented until about 1960. This plate bears a different decor from that series: a Delft floral decor under the same mark. In the interior: Fits in a country, classic or eclectic interior, above a sideboard or in a hallway. The glossy glaze catches daylight and gives the colors depth. Condition: Good to very good. Front and back: no chips, hairlines or restorations observed. Underside: firing marks in the foot ring, where the plate rested in the kiln; characteristic of the firing process and no damage.
