Ralf Altrieth - Sans titre - XL

Acrylic on sturdy ivory-toned paper 75 x 105 cm Signed and dated on the back by the artist Certificate of authenticity signed by Ralf Altrieth DESCRIPTION: This original work on paper by Ralf Altrieth unfolds a free, instinctive universe, populated by figures and shapes that seem to spring directly from the gesture. Sometimes a few lines are enough to reveal a face, a body, or an entire creature. Nothing is fixed: the forms seem capable of transforming at any moment. The drawing occupies an essential place here. Spontaneous lines, flat fields, graphic signs and details combine with great freedom, allowing the paper to play an important role in the composition. Between free figuration, instinctive drawing and graphic poetry, the work does not aim to tell a precise story. It rather invites the imagination to establish its own associations. The gaze moves from one shape to another, gradually discovering new details and new presences. Framed with a wide mat, it takes on its full dimension and leaves around it a breathing space that underscores the spontaneity of the drawing. Its presence, expressive, playful and poetic, naturally fits into a contemporary interior. On the border between drawing and painting, this series bears witness to a deeply personal approach by Ralf Altrieth: a free visual language where a few lines can suffice to conjure up an entire world. CRITIQUE: "There is a lot of poetry in this painting, as in all of the artist's works. They are populated with narrative codes and fantastic tales. In this sense, Ralf Altrieth’s pictorial poems are a pure childlike song... But the most astonishing thing that appears in these paintings is a communicative tenderness for the states of mind of the human being." — Dr. Friedhelm Häring, museum director and art historian "His writing through gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and experiments never attempted. His canvases and works on paper demonstrate that painting remains a major expression of the contemporary scene." — Laurent Puech, art historian and curator BIOGRAPHY: Ralf Altrieth (Heilbronn, 1966) is a Franco-German painter and musician recognized for his expressive, spontaneous universe, at the crossroads of figuration and abstraction. Trained in his teens with painter Georg Schaible and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nürtingen in the late 1980s, his work is distinguished by rare pictorial energy and a particularly sensitive language. His works are now in numerous private collections around the world. SHIPPING: The work will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube to ensure safe transport.
