Rado DiaStar Quartz – Black Dial – Sapphire Crystal – Two-Tone Original Bracelet – Swiss Made A distinctive vintage Rado DiaStar Quartz from the 1980s, featuring the bold rectangular architecture and integrated bracelet design that became characteristic of Rado’s innovative approach to watchmaking. The watch features an elegant glossy black dial framed by a fine gold-tone border. Applied gold-tone indexes, stylised Roman numerals and matching hands create a refined contrast against the dark dial, while a practical date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. The rectangular case is enhanced by gold-tone elements at the top and bottom, each accented by small square decorative inserts. The original integrated two-tone bracelet continues the geometric design of the case and gives the watch a particularly strong 1980s aesthetic. Story & Heritage Rado has built its reputation around an unusually strong focus on materials, durability and modern industrial design. The DiaStar name is particularly important in the brand’s history, becoming associated with highly resistant surfaces, unconventional case shapes and a futuristic aesthetic that distinguished Rado from more traditional Swiss manufacturers. This example captures the design language of the 1980s particularly well. Its rectangular case, integrated bracelet, glossy black dial and combination of steel and gold-tone details create a sophisticated geometric appearance unmistakably linked to the period. The use of sapphire crystal also reflects Rado’s long-standing emphasis on scratch-resistant materials and practical durability. Rather than following conventional round-watch design, the DiaStar family developed its own visual identity — architectural, distinctive and immediately recognizable. This makes vintage examples particularly interesting today for collectors of unconventional Swiss watches and 1980s design. A stylish vintage Rado combining Swiss quartz precision, sapphire crystal, an original integrated bracelet and the unmistakable design language of the DiaStar collection.
