East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A warm yellow-brown jade carving of a recumbent deer, rendered in the archaistic manner evoking the elegance of Zhou and Han period ornaments. The stylized form features curled antlers, tightly tucked limbs, and a high-arching back, with cloud-scroll motifs incised across the flanks in low relief. A central perforation between the shoulders suggests the piece was intended for suspension or attachment. The stone's rich tone and smooth, glossy finish give it an aged aesthetic, while the carving details and polish are consistent with 18th - 19th century Qing revival craftsmanship. Size: 1.2" W x 1.125" H (3 cm x 2.9 cm) Item # 193534
