After the heavy gold jewellery of the economic miracle years, the wide bracelets of yellow gold and flat brooches with numerous coloured stones, the fashion in jewellery changed with the 1960s to a new lightness. The colour of the time was sparkling white, like the stars - often combined with blue, like the sky at night. The settings of the designs increasingly dissolved into a mesh of white-gold rods. The filigree structures of space equipment, the antennas of Sputnik, but also the skeletal structures of the new skyscrapers may have been the inspiration here: It was not for nothing that a brooch with the name "Cosmos" won the prize for Jewel of the Year in 1967. This ring also embodies this cool, futuristic lightness. Gleaming rhodium-plated white gold sets a precious cushion cut sapphire in a frame of sparkling diamonds. the natural, untreated stone is a deep sky blue. It weighs around 3.60 carats and is very transparent, so shows almost no inclusions - all factors that positively determine the value of such a gemstone. In order to confirm the quality of the materials and especially of the central sapphire, we commissioned an expert opinion from the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation in Idar-Oberstein. The experts arrived at a replacement value of 10,320 euros for the ring.
