A pair of okimono depicting a rooster and a hen, finely modelled in white porcelain and distinguished by an high level of naturalistic rendering. With tomobako. Hen dimensions: 9.5 x 11 x 6 cm. Okimono (置物), combining the kanji "oki" (置き, to place) and "mono" (物, object), refers to a decorative object meant for display. Okimono, popular in the Meiji period (1868 - 1912), were finely crafted sculptures made from materials such as ivory, boxwood, wood, and bronze. The okimono are in good condition. Small chip on the rooster’s tail (picture n.3). Please refer to the pictures for further details.
