Free-form, carved and polished from a single block of polychrome jasper from Madagascar. The specimen features a varied color composition, with pink, salmon, cream, greenish-gray, and reddish-brown tones. The different colors alternate in wavy bands, irregular areas, and small circular motifs, forming different patterns on each side of the stone. One face is characterized by a central light green area, surrounded by pink and cream bands; on the opposite side there is a darker green area, accompanied by ochre and orange inclusions with brown-reddish outlines. The polishing highlights the continuity of the veining and the natural contrasts of the material. Polychrome jasper is a compact siliceous rock, composed mainly of microcrystalline quartz. Its different tones are due to iron oxides and other mineral inclusions formed during the various geological phases of the rock. The flat base allows the specimen to be displayed vertically without support. Provenance: Madagascar Material: polychrome jasper Carving/work: free-form carved and polished Color: pink, salmon, cream, greenish-gray, ochre and brown Conditions: good; veining, color variations and small irregularities are natural characteristics of the material.
