Pocket watch: large gold Lepine with a special carillon strike, ca. 1800

Pocket watch: large gold Lepine with a special carillon strike, ca. 1800

Approx. 54 mm in diameter, approx. 117 g, heavy 18-carat rose gold case, No. 11237, fine verge movement with quarter-hour carillon strike in three chimes, distinctive and presumably unique silver dial depicting a hunting scene, gilt hands, in working order and very well preserved. Although the movement, case and dial are signed ‘Breguet’, this watch does not originate from Breguet’s workshops but was sold under his renowned name, as were many such watches.
