Over the years of dealing in antique pieces of jewellery, unmounted historical and modern diamonds have repeatedly found their way to us. However, the search for beautiful settings for these diamonds proved more difficult than expected. Modern ready-made settings, such as those available in stores, are often soulless, machine-made products that lack a sense of form and proportion. Yet beautiful, hand-forged, antique settings rarely come to us without matching diamonds. So we commissioned our goldsmith to craft a ring setting based on our design, which we then had cast using traditional techniques. This ring now features a vintage brilliant-cut diamond weighing 0.96 ct, which was cut in the second half of the 20th century. The stone boasts an elegant champagne colour and very good brilliance. The diamond’s quality was additionally graded by an external diamond laboratory. It is a “Very Light Brown” stone with small natural inclusions (SI2). These are evidence of the diamond’s formation deep within the Earth hundreds of millions of years ago. They make the diamond one-of-a-kind: no modern lab-grown stone can carry the history of a genuine diamond. Two small accent diamonds set in delicate milgrains adorn the ring’s shoulders, lending the piece a light elegance that beautifully showcases the large brilliant-cut diamond at the center. At the same time, the piece of jewellery sparkles with every ray of light that strikes its finely crafted surfaces. Thanks to its high-quality, durable materials and flat design, the ring is suitable for everyday wear.
