Pierrot et Arlequin Pablo Picasso

• From the series ‘Dix Pochoirs’, published by Paul Rosenberg in Paris in 1921 • Cubist composition in geometrically structured areas of colour • Harlequin and Pierrot as key figures in Picasso’s visual universe The figure of the Harlequin is one of the recurring motifs in Picasso’s work. In this composition, he combines two figures standing close together to form a structure of clearly delineated areas of colour and geometric shapes. The strong contrasts and the two-dimensional treatment are reminiscent of his Cubist works and lend the depiction an effect that is both playful and rigorously composed. | 1881 Málaga - Mougins bei Cannes 1973 | Moderne Kunst | Druckgrafik | Nummer: 26x2403 | Provenance: Wohl Sammlung Earl Horter; Skinner, Bosten 21.5.2010, Los 132; Privatbesitz, USA.
