PHILIPPOT (Paul) Marie Sass. “La Marseillaise” at the Opera [and at the Gaîté]. Paris, 1870. Woodcut, here hand-colored, depicting the singer Marie Sass performing “La Marseillaise,” standing before the tricolor flag, surrounded by military figures. Paul Philippot’s signature is engraved on the plate in the lower left corner. This composition is part of an illustration dedicated to Marie Sass and Thérésa in *La Marseillaise* at the Opera and the Gaîté, cataloged by the Bibliothèque nationale de France under the name of the engraver Paul Philippot and dated 1870. BnF Catalog Print mounted on a large sheet. Some foxing and marginal soiling, minor signs of wear; colors still fresh.
