PONTIFEX MAXIMUS . 1963."; Reverse: Philippine archipelago, airplane to right, legend around "+POPE PAUL VI. VISITS THE PHILIPPINES NOVEMBER 1970". Bright and flashy with hard mirrored fields and frosty devices, this premium Gem is free of tone haze or fog. A rather RARE medal with a limited production that is difficult to locate. This issue was struck to commemorate the first ever papal visit to the Philippines and the entire far east. It was a brief three day visit where he survived an assassination attempt, connected with local communities, gave enormous public masses, visited with impoverished families and met with President Ferdinand Marcos.
