Obverse: Caduceus with inscription around "MEDICAL / CONFERENCE / SCIENCES", two-line inscription "MANILA / DEC. 20.22 1943", all within bamboo border; Reverse: Blank. With original canvas ribbon, "MEMBER" and suspension. A pleasing and wholesome example exhibiting an incredible state of preservation for the ribbon with clear inscription. Struck during the Japanese occupation, the Conference on Medical Sciences focused on local physicians and researchers that presented their findings. Subjects including public health issues, malnutrition and diseases exacerbated by the wartime deprivation in the Philippines. Estimate: $400 - $600.
