PHILIPPINES. La Naval de Manila Silver Medal, 1907. NGC MS-61. Honeycutt-80 (Plate medal). Diameter: 40 mm. Obverse: Bust of Pope Pius X right flanked by legend "PIVS X PONT. MAX.", four-line inscription below "CORONACION / DE NTRA.SRA.DEL SMO. / ROSARIA DE MANILA. / OCTUBRE 1907", two shields below, ornate border around; Reverse: Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus, angels left, angel right placing crown. This ornate issue exhibits bold devices with semi-reflective surfaces. A thin veneer of tone with richer coloration near the edge complement this handsome piece. This medal represents the first ever canonical and pontifical coronation of the Philippines and the entire continent of Asia.
