This image is a historical copperplate engraving from the late 17th or early 18th century. What is depicted: A veduta (city view) of Paris with a view of the Pont Neuf (new bridge) and the Seine toward the Pont au Change (Wissel Brug) near the Louvre. Artist / Publisher: At the bottom left is the signature “Pet. Schenk ex. Amst.” to be read. This stands for Peter Schenk the Elder (1660–1711 or his son of the same name), a well-known German-Dutch copperplate engraver and art publisher from Amsterdam. Caption: Latin: “NOVUS PONS, qua prospectus est ad pontem mensarium.” Dutch: “De Nieuwe Brug ter zyde van Louvre, ziende op de Wissel Brug.” Numbering / Privilege: “38” and “cum Privil.”
