John Murray, octavo, 205 pp. + 14 pp. of preface, tables and introduction, red cloth binding, gilt title on the front board and on the spine. A fine richly illustrated work with photographs by the author and Colonel F. Rhodes. It is the account of a land journey from the Cape (South Africa) to the Zambezi River (present-day Zambia and Zimbabwe), crossing territories then under British rule or in the process of colonization. Cover slightly soiled, tear between the front board and the spine. Interior in very good condition with some foxing. - GORDON-BROWN A. (1947) The South and East African Year Book and Guide with Atlas, town plans and diagrams. Sampson Low, Marston & Co, in‑12, 1165 pp. followed by 64 pp. of maps and 193 pp. of hotel listings and preceded by 80 pp. of contents, index and preface and 30 pp. of advertisements, gray cloth binding illustrated. Very handsome travel guide richly illustrated with 32 color maps and numerous city plans. A large number of advertisements from the period accompany this guide, which also includes a binding dealer insert present with the work. Copy in excellent condition.
